Team

Project Theatre is run by a dedicated team who care passionately about everyone we work with and everything we do.

Our team is made up of staff, volunteers and board of trustees of all ages, backgrounds and with various experiences and interests.  Some of our team have joined us before, during and after theatre or arts training or employment.

Project Theatre is governed by a Board of Trustees and led by our Artistic Director with the creative staff along with a team of volunteers and member parent / guardians.

Many of our volunteers use their experiences of being involved in committees and decision making bodies from arts and community organisations to help support the development, fundraising and promotion of the organisation.

In our creative and production teams we have staff with a wide range of skills and experience in youth work, directing theatre and film, workshop facilitation, technical skills, media and marketing expertise, vocal coaching, dance technique and choreography to name just a few. Some specialise and take lead roles depending on the project.

Below are just some of the people currently involved in our organisation.  Roles can vary by project so this list may not always be fully up to date.

MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

Jamie O’Rourke Founder & Artistic Director

Jamie is an award-winning theatre director, drama facilitator, writer, performer and producer who conceived and founded Project Theatre in 2008 at the age of 18 after working and assisting with two local youth theatres and on placement with Project Scotland. Following several years as a youth and young adult amateur actor and performer, Jamie initially developed a passion for directing and producing whilst leading an extra curricular drama group in sixth year of high school. Jamie started Project Theatre in a small hired room with a class of 5 children and a few volunteers and today now manages our award-winning charity organisation working with over 150 children and young people a year, a team of over 15 staff and volunteers, developing a wide, innovative programme of performing arts classes and rehearsals in our own studio with performances in different venues and locations across the area. Jamie was awarded a national Young Scot Award in 2011 and Young Arts Personality of the Year Falkirk in 2013 for his range of community and participatory performance work and voluntary service to the arts. Jamie studied Contemporary Performance Practice at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Directing and Devising with Trinity College London through Acting Out UK and as a professional multi-disciplinary artist has taught, worked with and directed a wide range of drama, musical theatre, pantomime and dance companies and individuals as well as producing events from community festivals and ghost walks to dance videos and short films and is also a keen graphic designer. Fun fact- for his 30th birthday Jamie performed his solo autobiographical show 29/30 and jumped out of a plane in the Las Vegas desert!
